Job Number: 190432 Department: VM Federal Way - Ophthalmology Hours: Variable/Flexible; M-F Virginia Mason Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible ophthalmologist to fill a full-time position in our Regional Medical Center, south of Seattle. Virginia Mason's Federal Way Regional Medical Center is located approximately 22 miles south of Seattle, allowing you to live in or near the city or in a variety of suburban areas near or in Federal Way. It our largest Regional Medical Center outside of Downtown Seattle and has one full-time general ophthalmologist and an optometrist. The surgeon position has been staffed by a well-respected general ophthalmologist who is retiring after 29 years of service. The ophthalmology section currently has a total of 8 ophthalmologists and 7 optometrists who work in our main downtown clinic and at 4 regional medical center locations. The section has retinal, corneal, glaucoma, pediatric/strabismus and oculo-plastic fellowship trained surgeons along with general ophthalmologists who practice in a collegial environment. This is a unique opportunity to shape a team-based model general ophthalmology practice alongside a dynamic optometrist. It is also a balance of solo practice, group practice, and multispecialty practice. A chance to develop and expand a general practice with the ability to focus on special areas of interest Virginia Mason Medical Center enjoys a well-earned regional and national reputation as a tertiary referral center for the Pacific Northwest. Clinical research opportunities are available due to our diverse patient population. Nighttime on-call duties rotate every eighth week. Qualifications: BE/BC in Ophthalmology 5 years experience preferred Sub-specialty expertise will also be considered. Fellowship training not required. Ideal candidate will be proficient in routine cataract surgery and enjoy practicing and growing a general ophthalmology service. Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice The City of Federal Way is located 22 miles south of the city of Seattle, making it an ideal suburban location in which to live.
